🦸 Figured out my superpower

Published 3 months ago • 2 min read

Happy Tuesday, Reader!

A few weeks ago I was teaching a live Subscriber Strategy workshop (based on the workbook by the same name) to my fellow members of Dr. Michelle Mazur's Expert Up Club when someone asked me:

"Are you a librarian?"

Apparently I’m very adept at cataloging information. Which in many ways explains why I nerd out on tagging & segmenting and it’s one of my superpowers 🤓

In all honesty, it took awhile to figure out tagging and segmenting and how to do it well.

(And even longer to understand how foundational they are to sending personalized & targeted emails that are rooted in consent and treating your email community like humans with different needs.)

But here’s the thing:

Even though having a solid strategy for tagging & segmenting your subscribers is the foundation for building connections through email marketing…

….it’s also super confusing.

It’s why every time I work with a client, whether it’s a Power Hour or a full ConvertKit buildout, tagging and segmenting inevitably come up.

It’s also why I created the Subscriber Strategy Workbook and have been doing workshops about it inside of people’s communities, including the Expert Up Club and Cassie Paton’s community.

And it’s been noodling in my brain that I should offer this workshop to my own community so that you can build a strong foundation for sending targeted & personalized emails that go to the right subscribers at the right time.

"I asked Bev to do a workshop for my community, The Expert Up Club, about subscriber strategy. This is such an overlooked topic, and it is something most small business owners need to be aware of if they want the right message to land in their email subscribers' inboxes.

Bev made topics like segments and tags understandable. For the first time in my 13 years of business, I am going to segment my own list so I can tailor the messages people receive from me.
