This isn't working

Published about 1 month ago • 1 min read

I’ve been reflecting on my email marketing, and I’m not thrilled with it, Reader.

Sure, my engagement is rock steady. My open and click-through rates are the highest they’ve ever been in all of my years doing email marketing.

As I shared in my guest email on Devin Lee’s newsletter last week, I love my newsletter-writing process.

But my own email marketing isn’t translating into sales & booked calls in a way I’d like to see.

Running a business involves experimentation to see what does and doesn’t work, and right now I’m entering a phase of experimentation with my own email marketing.

Because I believe in transparency and I appreciate learning from other business owners what’s they’re doing in their businesses, here’s some of what I’ve got in the pipeline and will be sharing with you in the upcoming weeks:

  • Reviewing email stats from my promotion for the Subscriber Strategy training
  • Updating my own Subscriber Strategy and changing the question I ask when people subscribe
  • Reviewing and updating my welcome sequence
  • Changing the frequency of my emails

I need to make changes or wind up stuck where I’m at.

And because my email list is one of my favorite aspects of running this business, I’m going to start with the frequency of my emails.

For the next 30 days, I’m experimenting with emailing three times a week.

I know some people have strong opinions about emailing more frequently, and it’s not going to be for everyone. I have some hypotheses about what will happen, including a flurry of unsubscribes. But I’m ok with that.

(Though I hope you’ll stick around for the journey!)

See you in your inbox tomorrow, Reader.

Best,
Bev

P.S. I'm figuring out the exact cadence. Reply back with:

  • A if you’d prefer emails on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday cadence, or
  • B if you think Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday to receive emails would be better, or
  • C if you have no strong preference
